KMPlayer 3.0.0.1442 r2

Can't say I am happy with Kmplayer lately, its all due to sounds issues (AAC I think) I faced with latest version 3.0.0.1442 r2. I hope they would fix their problems quicker. Lack of updates to fix sound issues is bugging me LOL.

On other than there is a similar player Daum PotPlayer I think by same team or something, is getting better each time. Not to mention frequent updates!

In fact I tested on some videos using same codecs, I get less cpu usage by PotPlayer compare to Kmplayer. Nevertheless I will continue to download Kmplayer when they release new versions.

This is the greatest thing to hit multimedia since the flash player was developed. This is called Korean Media Player hence the name KMP.

Someone posted and called them thieves.Harsh words coming from ignorant people.

Korea has no law in regard to copyright or patent and thus the beauty of this program.

They are free to develop the best MMP available.
If you dont like it though...Tell it to China.

No AVCHD playback out of the box. So "Best multimedia player ever Period" is a bit of an overstatement. If you want to watch your camcorder movies hassle-free there are other "best" free media players around, which actually work.

Well, ive not the problems mentioned by Olong with the actual version and a old Athlon X2 6000 CPU under Win7/64Bit. 1080p MKVs using under 20% CPU-Power.

Im not a coder but probably the player-soft got a failed enhancement handling multicore-cpus in the last version.

Just comment again to say I given up playing with its settings and got a bit older copy The KMPlayer 3.0.0.1438 CUDA + HAM DXVA from net and now it runs very good even better than I tweak myself. They add CoreAVC/MPC-HC Audio & Video Decoder/Cyberlink Decoder. No Sync issues or anything.

I noticed it however uses 30-50% CPU of my AMD 6 Core compare to official build own settings which only uses 10-15%

Weird player, so much options and doesn't always work at its best.

Example my old 1.7ghz (retired) pc I run all mkv properly up to 720p. Now new AMD 6 core I had issue at beginning with 1080p so I got CoreAVC and keep changing setting until able to more or less properly run 1080p then I checked and noticed after short while SD mkv files goes out of sync! which never happen on old pc.

I ended up deleting Kmplayer registry to forced it to give real default settings before tweaking again for it to run CoreAVC. Now finally looks like SD & HD mkv can run properly without sync or etc issues.

Its quite a good player only 1 small glitch that is bugging me. If you change between full screen and desktop it will make the films jerks. At first I thought my AMD 6 core didn't handle 1080p properly then I tried on SD shows which also gave some problem. This issue wasn't there couple of versions ago I think.

Great great player... except that it can't play rmvb files in my 64bit computer... apparently it's a problem of Real Media that $uck$. People have suggested to copy the Real codecs into the KMP folder, switching back to Real 10.5 or using Real Alternative... but none worked...

copy codecs into the kmp directory then change splitter in settings

The latest version (downloaded 25Feb10)
Complicated, difficult and tricky. Installed an unwanted tool bar, changed all settings, and took over anything media.
Scattered files all over the computer and almost impossible to uninstall after hours of work. All I wanted was an alternative player- not be taken over by bloated stuff like this. Unless you have a good reason to try and use it, stick with VLC or something unpretentious.

Honestly, this is a much more stable build than the last one, and when I installed it this time, there was no conflict with the video thumbnails, which is great. I love how this media player has more options for configuration with the audio and video. I'll give this a shot for a while instead of GOM Player.

I am no computer expert. I hate when an application can't play something I thought it would. KMP read about any video format I ever encountered, without telling me it does not have the proper codecs. What more can I ask?

Of course it does not read the real format so I had to install this one for that purpose, but it can also be useful to download videos off youtube.

This is by far one of the more impressive media players i've seen. It plays just about every format, and the picture quality is incredible. I don't see all the major hype on the VLC player, even though it's performance is pretty solid.

KM Player's skins could use some improving to make it look even more exciting, but that's not the issue at hand, as this media player is more than just basic. It works fantastic.

How do I rank this media player against others?

1. KMPlayer
2. GOM Media Player
3. Windows Media Player 11
4. VLC
5. Real Player

Right now it is my default player. Both audio and video. It can play almost all format (except real media). And there are lots of options and settings in KMplayer which are not there in VLC or MPC or Mplayer or GOM player.
It's very light on system resources and works flawlessly.

Excellent player with every possible video format supported. I use it for watching movies, I use Winamp for audio.

What I like? Nice sound/picture effects, like normalizer, crystalizer, postprocessing... A lot of settings for subtitles, picture size... I don't think a setting exists that isn't included in The KMPlayer.

What I don't like? Often web streams (audio or video) don't work, although it's said that it's supported. Picture quality is a little bit lower than other similar programs, like VLC.

But overall still the best video player there is!

I'm using KMPlayer v2.9.3.1214 not the beta one - yet.

I'm in agreement with the other commenters here in that I've found it to be really fast, smooth and responsive.

I've not had any problems with it consuming high amounts of CPU. It's runs perfectly even on my very old but trusty Sony Vaio with only a Mobile Intel Celeron II, 600 MHz & 512 MB of RAM.

I've also been able to turn it into a portable standalone version. That's always a big plus for me :)

Definitely recommended :)

Are there better players then KMPlayer. It's hard to find. I'm sure you don't find a better one. Why not a rating of a 5 but 4. After all these updates there is still not a possibility during installing to make it your default player. The disappointment is that you cannot still to make KMPlayer as your default player. To wipe the other players that's a way to far.

The Koreans produce great players, it appears. The first one I came across was GOM and what a pleasant surprise. It's now my No 1 player, above MPC and VLC. Then I found this one which seems equally great, hard to choose which one of the two I like more. Anyone not 100% happy with their present players should give those two a try and may find they'll never go back.

I was looking for a suitable player for DVDs on my pc on which for some reason only MPC was working at a level i found suitable but lacking features/options. after a few hours i came upon this player and i was blown away!
Simply put this player does it all and does it well. Not only did it provide great DVD playback bu also plays other files better than VLC and MPC.

My PC is almost over 7 years old and on my PC it actually uses less memory than MPC.
Do yourself a favor and check this player out.

This player is excellent. Great interface, easy configuration of interal and external filters. The media info feature is very useful when examining file attributes, much like when one parses a file through GSpot.
Video storyboarding is fantastic and fast.
What I like most about KMPlayer is its playback on H.264 when combined with CoreAVC H.264 decoder. Before KMPlayer, MPC+CoreAVC has been my default combo and tends to lag, I don't know why but KMPlayer seems to play to them smoothly. I think in general KMPlayer plays videos better than MPC+filters. I'm not certain on that. But the reason why I gave a 4/5 rating is because of the CPU usage, which is generally higher than MPC. I would give it a 5 if it performs nicely with low resource usage.
