NEF Codec (aka Nikon RAW Codec) 1.13.0

NEF Codec (aka Nikon RAW Codec) is a module that makes Nikon RAW (.NEF: Nikon Electronic Format) image files as easy to work with as JPEG and TIFF images.

Supported Cameras:

• Digital SLR Cameras:
- D3X, D3S, D3, D2XS, D2X, D2HS, D2H, D1X, D1H, D1, D90, D80, D70S, D70, D60, D50, D40X, D40, D700, D300S, D300, D200, D100, D7000, D5100, D5000, D3100, D3000
• Digital Compact Cameras:
- COOLPIX 8800, COOLPIX 8700, COOLPIX 8400, COOLPIX 5700, COOLPIX 5400, COOLPIX 5000

Install Procedure:

- Create a new folder on the computer hard drive and name it appropriately.
- Double-click the downloaded file to start the installer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.
* If you have already installed version 1.6.0 or earlier, you will need to uninstall the NEF Codec. You can uninstall earlier versions by following the on-screen instructions provided by this installer.

Confirming Operation:

• Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)
- Right-click an NEF image and select "Open with" > "Windows Photo Viewer" or "Windows Live Photo Gallery".*
- Confirm that the image is displayed full size.
• Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (32-bit)
- Right-click an NEF image and select "Open with" > "Windows Photo Viewer" or "Windows Live Photo Gallery". *
- Confirm that the image is displayed full size.
• Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 (32-bit)
- Right-click an NEF image and select "Open with" > "Windows Live Photo Gallery". *
- Confirm that the image is displayed full size.
* Note: Windows Live Photo Gallery can be downloaded from the Windows Live website.

Uninstall Procedure:

- Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
- Select Add/Remove Programs.
- Choose Nikon RAW Codec from the list of the installed programs and execute to run the uninstaller.
- Next, follow the instructions that will appear on the screen to uninstall the software.

Changes in Nikon RAW Codec 1.13.0:

- Supports NEF (RAW) images taken with the D4.
• Nikon RAW Codec 1.12.0:
- Supports NEF (RAW) images taken with the Nikon 1 J1, Nikon 1 V1.
- Supports 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7.
- If thumbnails for NEF files fail to display correctly in the Photo Gallery or Photo Viewer for 64-bit editions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, perform a disk clean-up as described below.
